Round-up: Blucerchiati on international duty

Let’s have a look at how those Sampdoria players called up for their national sides fared.

It was bad news for Luis Muriel, as Colombia were defeated 3-0 away in Argentina. Goals from Lionel Messi, Lucas Pratto and Angel Di Maria proved decisive in the qualifying match for Russia 2018. The Samp man was on the bench for the entire game, which leaves Colombia in fifth place in the qualification table.

Meanwhile in Europe, Milan Skriniar represented Slovakia in a friendly with Austria. The Samp man put in a good display, coming on in the second half, in a game which ended goalless.
After a positive performance against Romania, Karol Linetty was on the bench for his Poland side’s friendly match with Slovenia. The away side took the lead in the game in Wroclaw, as Miha Mevlja found the back of the net. Poland managed to level the scores, thanks to a goal from Lukasz Teodorczyk in the 79th minute.

Patrick Schick had already returned to Genoa when his Czech Republic side drew 1-1 in their friendly with Denmark. The forward is already available for training with Samp boss Marco Giampaolo.

Bruno Fernandes represented Portugal’s Under-21 side in a friendly game in Doetinchem against the Netherlands, turning in a very capable performance. Iuri Madeiros opened the scoring for the away side, before they were pegged back after Richairo Zivkovic scored from the penalty spot.

Fernandes and his team-mates now await the draw, set for 1 December, for the 2017 Under-21 European Championship in Poland.

Meanwhile Portugal’s Under-19 team were made to suffer on their way to qualifying for the U19 elite round. Pedro Pereira and his side lost 1-0 in their first game away in Bulgaria, before earning a 1-1 draw against Belarus. With qualification at stake, the Portuguese side managed to beat Denmark 2-1.

The Samp man was on the bench for the first game, before starting the next two; he was substituted after 65 minutes in the precious win over the Danish.
