President Ferrero delighted: “Sabatini is the star I wanted for Samp”

Club President Massimo Ferrero was beaming as he presented the newly arrived Walter Sabatini, who will cover the recently vacated role of Technical Director: “Since I began in football,” said the President, “I knew that Sabatini was a big name, a star, one of the best sporting directors in Italy. Today I’m lucky enough to bring him to Sampdoria.”

At the director’s side, both in the press room today, and above all in his future work, will be the lawyer Antonio Romei, trusted advisor to the President, and the director Carlo Osti. “The ideas about football and players which we have in mind needed Walter’s crackpot brilliance,” explained Romei. “His best quality is that he is an intellectually fascinating man. I’m sure we’ll do great things.”

“I’m very happy that Walter will be part of our team,” added Osti. “He is a great friend, and I’m very happy to be working with him again, after our time together at Lazio years ago. I’m sure that the two of us will be able to work very well together: he’ll represent the urge towards utopia, risk, while I’m much more grounded. We’ll always find a balance.”
