Murru reaches 100-game Serie A milestone
Nicola Murru has now clocked up his first 100 matches in Serie A at the tender age of 23, becoming one of the youngest players to make a tonne of top-flight appearances.
The Italian full-back featured 70 times for Cagliari in Serie A and has thus far played 30 times for Sampdoria. Nicola made his top-flight debut for Cagliari on 17 December 2011, aged just 17, in a home fixture against Chievo, which the visitors won 2-0.
His first match for Sampdoria was a Coppa Italia tie against Foggia last summer (3-0, Barreto, Caprari, Kownacki), before he made his league bow for the club against Fiorentina in Week 2 (2-1, Caprari, Quagliarella).
In his first season with Doria, Murru totalled 23 appearances in all competitions. This term he has been an ever-present in the Blucerchiati backline, starting all 11 matches so far (10 Serie A, one Coppa Italia) and helping to establish Doria as one of the meanest defences in Europe.
