Rincon’s last-minute strike gives Samp Women victory

The Blucerchiate secured their third win in as many games on Sunday, beating Como Women to secure their spot alongside Fiorentina at the top of the table. The game at Stadio Ferruccio Trabattoni in Seregno looked set to finish all square until Yoreli Rincon managed to grab a last-gasp winner and seal all three points for Sampdoria.

Antonio Cincotta’s side went close in the first half as Cecilia Re couldn’t quite slot it home after a lovely exchange with Stefania Tarenzi in the area. After that, the home team were the ones to dominate, with Chiara Beccari looking dangerous. On 25 minutes, she sent a rocket onto Amanda Tampieri’s post.

The woodwork saved the Blucerchiate in the second half too, when Vlada Kubassova turned and hit a sweet strike but didn’t quite find the net. Como continued to threaten as the game went on but failed to capitalise on their chances. Sampdoria had an opportunity to snatch it on 84 minutes, but Sara Baldi couldn’t put it away from close range. With the clock ticking away, it looked like neither side would break the deadlock, but Rincon had other ideas, getting that all-important goal from a free-kick in added time.

The Blucerchiate came away with three points on the board, sitting atop the table. The next match in Serie A Femminile TIM 2022/23 sees them face Inter at the 3 Campanili in Bogliasco on Sunday.
